It's with heavy hearts that we at All4Cure announce the passing of our dear friend, Dr. Brian G.M Durie on Oct 12, 2025 at the age of 82.
A message about Dr. Durie from our founder, Tony:
"Through the full application of his intelligence, charm, and persuasiveness, Brian was one of the foremost contributors to the transformation of multiple myeloma from a rapidly fatal death sentence to a chronic and perhaps even curable disease. Others will more fully describe Brian’s many seminal contributions to the myeloma field, including co-founding the International Myeloma Foundation (with his wife Susie Novis Durie), establishing the International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG), developing the Durie-Salmon staging system, and leading efforts for the acceptance of measurable residual disease (MRD) – negative status as a surrogate endpoint by regulatory agencies.
We came to know and work with Brian more closely after he, along with Dr. Paul Keown, visited Seattle last year to discuss how All4Cure is democratizing access to expert level care and clinical trials for patients with myeloma. Brian became a key advisor to All4Cure, forwarding efforts to extend expert level care to all patients with myeloma. We will miss Brian deeply, and hold enduring affection and appreciation for his remarkable legacy."
The International Myeloma Foundation has shared a touching remembrance of Dr. Durie’s life and work — you can read their announcement here.
