My myeloma relapsed again in September 2018, and it took a while to get the meds working. We did one last trip to Costa Rica in January 2019 before starting daratumumab treatments in March, requiring us to spend more time at home. We had just booked a trip to Malta for May 2020 when COVID hit, so we’ve been enjoying beautiful British Columbia.
Since the diagnosis, Lisa and I have done some things we might not have. We joined a boat club back in 2015, and are able to be on the water through the good weather without having to maintain the boats. Our two-week adventure in Greenland was extravagant! Under different circumstances, we probably would have decided to wait another year or two and save for it. Not anymore, we just booked it!
We are back to changing meds and crossing our fingers that I get back to remission. Despite missing visiting our friends and family, and opportunities to travel, we have so much we enjoy in our lives. If we can’t travel, we’ll put in a garden and enjoy the boat. When we can travel again, I have a list of places and people to see.
