When I was admitted to the hospital, the doctor was really concerned about the size of the myeloma tumor on my back because it was putting pressure on my spinal cord. They were worried that it could cause permanent damage and paralysis. At the same time, my German shepherd Angus got really sick and we didn't know what was wrong with him. He had a problem holding his urine and was jaundiced but no one knew what to do. He went to three different vets and we didn't know if he was going to make it. At the hospital, the doctor told me I couldn’t leave. I told them all about Angus, how I've had him since he was a puppy and he's been my best friend for 8 years. I told them I really would like to go see him because he's in the hospital and might die. The vet was only an hour away, so they let me go as long as I promised to be back that night. I was able to see him and hug him, which I thought might be the last time, and then I went back to the hospital. Angus ended up being in the veterinary hospital for 14 days and had his gallbladder removed. I think he was in the hospital even longer than I was. Finally, we got to bring him home. I got out of the hospital around the same time so we both came home and laid on the couch together. I'm super close to him, he's been through everything with me and he made it through. He's my partner.
