After I got out of the military, I did a year of traveling around before ending up at a job with Arizona Public Service in Phoenix. It was there that I met my wife in the mid-1970s. She worked in customer service and I was a teletype operator, so we worked closely. I knew her about two weeks before I went to work in a warehouse in Flagstaff, Arizona quite far away. I missed her so I drove the 150 miles down to see her and proposed. Sometime after midnight and a lot of convincing, she agreed. We ran off to Vegas to get married. We got married on the 22nd of December, 47 years ago. It was kind of unusual, but we just did it our way. Throughout my time with myeloma, she has been my primary caregiver. She’s been there to drive me around and take care of me and she is one of the most influential people in my life.
